Liz jumps in!!!!

On our standard Saturday walk a few weeks ago, Liz found a gap in the towpath fence – her and Bobs went racing around a nearby field, loving every second of it, despite a football match taking place.

Yesterday we went the other way up the towpath to avoid the gap. Signs of the summer were taking place all around and there was much more boat movement along the cut. It was great to talk to some of the crews, feeling very jealous!!!

It started to rain and we didn’t have the dogs coats – so we hastened back to the car. Bec was in front of the dogs and sort of running to urge them on! All of a sudden, Liz looks up into the field opposite the canal and launches herself into the water – decides that was probably not a good idea and swims (she can swim and I reckon she has done this before) back to the bank where I pull her out!

Bit scary, but funny! The photos don’t do it justice, but at least we weren’t worried about the rain anymore!

Snow and Ofsted

Well the trip to St Andrews was snowed off really – we have had such lovely weather in March, people were playing the golf courses in tee shirts.  We get there and – bent flagsticks and snow – just our luck!!!!  Not even any pictures to show anyone who might be interested.

Me at Carnoustie - April 2007 - in a tee shirt!!

At school we are expecting OFSTED in at some point in the next week – just got to think about being on the boat in 6 weeks.  Cotonwood is on the Leeds and Livepool now, that will be an interesting ride!!

We found out today that Liz has a heart murmor – more severe that the usual one that Greys get – whilst we took out insurance for her – it is not covered as she would have had it anyway.  She seems fine on a run and keeps up with Bobs but………  It will either cost us loads, or we will have to see!

She is beautiful however!!

She is Beautiful!!

In case he is jealous, one of Bobs!!

See - you love it really!!

Off to St Andrews

Well – tomorrow me and my brother in law are off to St Andrews, to play the hallowed turf of the Old Course.  My golf has taken a beating due to the extra work we have had to do and I will be unable to renew my golf membership this year.  However this trip has been planned since Oli turned 40 a few years ago – as it was my 40th a few weeks ago we are off.

I shall aim to post on the blog about it – but the best laid plans……….

Can’t wait!!

Stoke City FC

After reading nb rocknroll’s blog tonight – and seeing that we share a common place of birth, it reminded me of the fact I have been brought up a Stoke City supporter!!  With the football events of the weekend – Stoke going out of the FA cup being the most minor – and the footballer Fabrice Muamba reminding us how fragile life is.  I was reminded of what it was like as a 9-year-old boy – to be a mascot for my beloved club.  Football is most certainly not the most important thing in our lives – but it provides us with an escape from our problems and work!!

What happened to Fabrice however shows how the real world can encroach on this escapism and remind us it’s still out there.  I really hope he pulls through, he seems a great character as well as a fantastic footballer – one news report says how he is studying for a degree – not many footballers do that.

As for that 9-year-old boy who dreamt of leading out Stoke City……….  Dreams didn’t come true in the end – I was rubbish at football, but the dream was so important as all dreams are!!

Dave Watson Captained England you know!!

Why does work always get in the way?

Bloomin work – I have not written for a while due to work – my school didn’t do well in its OFSTED in October and since then the place has been a bit mad. Everyone wants a piece of you and will criticise at the drop of a hat. I seem to have come out well out of the report, but this doesn’t seem to make any difference. I am sat writing this while watching Hen swim and he is teaching me how to observe life – take each experience as it comes!!!

Lizzie is really settling in well and enjoying life with us – she has a helicopter blade for a tail, which I love to see as it took her ages to use it! Bobs sometimes is put out when she gets attention – but they both love each others company. We are getting more food today, but I don’t think what happened last time will happen again. I shall write a weeks resolution, write a blog a night – learn what’s important from the children and dogs!!
